Position OverviewThe Assistant Kitchen Manager will support the Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen, ensuring high standards in food quality, cleanliness, prep organization, and team leadership. This role is hands-on and requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading line cooks and prep staff during service.
Key Responsibilities-
Support the Chef with day-to-day BOH operations

Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff on prep, station setup, food handling, and service standards

Maintain organization of walk-ins, dry storage, and prep areas

Assist with scheduling, staffing, and communicating daily priorities

Execute and uphold recipes, specs, and plating standards with consistency

Oversee receiving, labeling, rotation, and inventory management (FIFO)

Ensure DOH/health-department compliance and kitchen cleanliness at all times

Help manage prep lists, production plans, and service execution

Monitor food quality and timing during service

Troubleshoot issues during shifts and support smooth service flow

Communicate clearly with FOH and management to maintain coordination

Step into cooking, prep, or expo as needed

2+ years experience in a kitchen leadership or supervisory role (Lead Line Cook, Sous Chef, Supervisor, etc.)

Strong understanding of kitchen operations, prep systems, and food safety

Ability to train and lead a team with confidence and respect

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to work nights, weekends, and a flexible schedule

ServSafe or equivalent preferred

Experience in high-volume or upscale casual environments a plus

Compensation: Salary/Hourly ($26.00 - $30.00)
