Kitchen Porter

Location: SAA – 154 Scott Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $18–$20/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Part-time / Full-time – Weekend availability required

The Overnight Porter will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the SAA property during evening and overnight hours. This role ensures that all interior and exterior areas are cared for to the highest standard, supporting the smooth transition between daily operations and next-day readiness.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, dependable, and take pride in their work — someone who values a clean and well-maintained environment and understands the importance of attention to detail in hospitality spaces.

This role requires a self-starter comfortable working independently overnight while maintaining communication with management and other departments as needed.

• Perform routine cleaning of all public spaces, restrooms, back-of-house areas, and common corridors.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors throughout the property.

• Empty trash and recycling receptacles, replace liners, and ensure all waste areas remain clean and organized.

• Wipe down surfaces, glass, and mirrors to maintain a polished and inviting appearance.

• Assist with setup and breakdown for any overnight maintenance or event preparation tasks.

• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report any shortages or maintenance needs to management.

• Ensure all entryways, loading zones, and exterior areas are clear and presentable.

• Conduct nightly inspections to identify any maintenance issues or safety hazards.

• Respond to any urgent cleaning or support requests from the evening team.

• Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and property security protocols.

• Prior experience in hospitality, custodial, or facilities maintenance preferred.

• Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.

• Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.

• Availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
