Job Details

Black Cat Farm is a Michelin Green Star winning restaurant founded by Jill and Chef Eric Skokan on our own award-winning organic farm. We offer a truly immersive dining experience where guests enjoy multi-course tasting menus in stunning glass cabanas situated throughout our fields and gardens. Our ethos is built on a direct, tangible connection between the land and the table. We are not just farm-to-table; we are the farm. We seek a dedicated individual to join our culinary team as a dishwasher and prep cook.

  • This is an entry level position; no experience is necessary, but a desire to learn is a must.
  • Culinary students are welcome to apply.
  • The work includes washing dishes, helping prepare the food in the afternoon, and helping on the line during service.
  • This is an afternoon/evening position, Wednesdays through Saturdays.
  • Ability to remain calm and elegant under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a collaborative team player with a strong, self-motivated work ethic.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and navigate the uneven terrain of a working farm.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Why Join Black Cat Farm?

This is a rare opportunity to work at the very source of an acclaimed culinary program. You will deepen your knowledge of food and wine by living the seasons on the farm, working directly alongside the growers and chefs who create our experience. If you are interseted in exploring a career in cooking and are looking to be part of a passionate, Michelin-recognized team that redefines what it means to connect guests with their food, we encourage you to apply.

Farm To Table

Fine Dining

Part of Bramble and Hare/Black Cat Farm Table Bistro

Black Cat Farm~Table~Bistro opened its doors in 2006. Founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, it is named after its “lucky” location on 13th street in Downtown Boulder. A small neighborhood bistro, the Black Cat serves as Chef Eric’s incubator for the developing Front Range Cuisine, an expression of the forests, fields and mountains unique to Colorado.

To that end, Eric and Jill created the 425-acre, Certified Organic, Black Cat Farm that now supplies the bounty of the restaurants, a booth at the Boulder Farmers’ market, and CSA’s. They raise vegetables, Tunis & Karakul sheep, Mulefoot pigs, heritage chickens and turkeys, and Toulouse geese.

The Black Cat team also forages wild fruit and produce (like mushrooms, junipier and wild plums) that root the restaurant’s cuisine in the flavors unique to the Front range.

The restaurant’s cuisine is simply an expression of the land and the season. As such, Black Cat’s menu changes every day.

In 2012, Jill and Eric opened Bramble & Hare ~ farmhouse kitchen and pub next door to Black Cat as a way to expand their Farm to Table, Colorado Front Range cuisine in a more casual setting.
