Job Purpose
Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club’s Executive Sous Chef is responsible for kitchen management, culinary operations, and team leadership. This role is critical for ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation across multiple dining venues and events. The Executive Sous Chef assists with menu development, oversees daily production, maintains food and labor cost controls, and fosters a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
- Support Executive Chef in leading, training, and mentoring culinary teams across all outlets.
- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and service. Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality dining for members and guests.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef in creating and updating seasonal menus, ensuring innovation and variety while adhering to the club's culinary vision.
- Supervise, train, and support motivation and development of kitchen staff to maintain high levels of performance, productivity, and professionalism. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure all food meets the club's high standards for taste, presentation, and preparation. Regularly inspect kitchen equipment and storage areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Oversee inventory management and order supplies to maintain adequate stock levels. Work within budget guidelines to control food costs and minimize waste.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Conduct regular checks on kitchen cleanliness and organization.
- Interact with club members and guests to understand their dining preferences and special requests. Strive to exceed expectations for every dining experience.
- Support the Executive Chef in strategic planning for culinary initiatives, event menus, and overall kitchen operations.
- Oversee kitchen scheduling, station assignments, and line checks to facilitate operational readiness.
- Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.
- Work closely with the Front of House, Events, and Clubhouse teams to ensure seamless dining and banquet execution.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to excellence in line with Club values.
- Serve as acting Executive Chef in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Qualifications
- Education
- Formal culinary/gastronomic education preferred but not required (work experience in lieu of formal education will be considered)
- Licenses/Certifications
- Valid ServSafe certifications
- Experience
- Previous Executive Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine experience required
- Strong kitchen management and team leadership background
- 5-7 years progressive culinary experience in professional kitchens (preferably Clubs/Hotels)
- Strong background in menu development, food costing, and kitchen operations
- Skills
- Ability to multitask and lead teams in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, Accountable and consistent
- Spanish language proficiency preferred, but not required
Work Schedule and Hours
- Full-Time, schedule/hours variable based on banquet, a la carte, and organizational needs
- Flexibility for occasional work outside of normal business hours required
- Weekend and Holiday availability required
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, etc.

Compensation Details
Compensation: Salary ($120,000.00 - $135,000.00)
