Line Cook

About Us
Tempura Matsui is a Michelin-starred tempura omakase restaurant in Murray Hill. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dependable line cook who is eager to learn, works cleanly and efficiently, and wants to grow with a focused team.

Preferred (Strong Plus)

• Strong familiarity with Japanese cuisine (tempura, sushi, kaiseki) is highly preferred

• Fine-dining or upscale kitchen experience is a plus (not required)

Responsibilities

• Learn and execute menu items to our standards

• Support mise en place and service execution

• Open and close the line / maintain station organization

• Assist with prep of Japanese ingredients (seafood/vegetables) and basic condiments/sauces as trained

• Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment

• Communicate clearly with the team and support teammates as needed

Qualifications

• 1+ year restaurant kitchen experience preferred

• Strong fundamentals in cooking techniques and food preparation

• Team-oriented, hardworking, and detail-driven

• Clear verbal and written communication skills
