Shuka, led by Chef/Partner Ayesha Nurdjaja, is looking for a passionate ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER to join our hospitality team!

Every dish bursts with layered, nuanced flavors, crafted with responsibly sourced ingredients from local farms and the greenmarket. We proudly serve lunch, dinner, and brunch. About the Role - We are seeking an ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER to help lead our team and deliver exceptional hospitality. The AGM works closely with the General Manager, guiding both service and operations to ensure a dining experience that reflects our values: seasonal food, warm hospitality, and a vibrant neighborhood atmosphere.

What You’ll Do

• Support and inspire the front-of-house team with training, coaching, and accountability.
• Anticipate guest needs, engage with regulars and high-profile guests, and build new guest relationships.
• Liaise with culinary teams to support smooth service during high-volume shifts and maintain ticket-time standards.
• Oversee reservations and floor management, ensuring thoughtful service flow and special event execution.
• Contribute to financial and operational goals: scheduling, inventory, reporting, and vendor management.
• Uphold standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and DOH compliance.
• Support company projects and initiatives that strengthen our restaurants and our people.

What You’ll Need

• 3 to 4 years of management experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
• Valid NYC DOH Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to hold teams accountable.
• Proficiency working with reservation systems (Resy), POS platforms (Toast), and HRM (Harri) preferred. 
• Familiarity with basic financial reporting.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
