Tall Poppy is a small bakery in Chelsea, serving up bloody good croissants and other delicious baked goods (and of course, coffee).
Our owners, Nina and Alexandra are Australian, but have spent the last few years working in NYC as lawyers. We love NYC but what we really miss is the quality and freshness of Australian baked goods. So we have embarked on a mission to reimagine tradition in a cute little space where the Chelsea community can find fresh, high quality pastries. We can promise you a supportive, fun, fast-paced environment that treats you as part of a family!
Our doors opened in September 2024 and we are ready to hire more talent for our small team. We are looking for a pastry cook to work alongside our existing kitchen team.
We are very passionate about what we do. Our ideal candidate is passionate, positive, and ready to learn. We rotate our menu, so a welcome mind to change is necessary. As we are a small team, we are all hands on deck in every aspect of the kitchen.
Responsibilities and Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality products.
- Production of dough, laminating croissants, making ganache and various fillings, as well as cookies and other small treats.
- Use of machinery such as a large mixer, sheeter, dough proofer and ovens.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen adhering to food safety and sanitation protocols
- Holding a current food protection certificate
- Dishes, cleaning, and garbage disposal.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Weekend availability is needed, including a willingness to do early morning shifts.
- Ability to stand for 8 hours at a time.
- Our kitchen ceilings are low, so height limit of 6 feet does apply.
