Corridor 109 / Bar 109 is hiring an Assistant Sommelier / Captain to be part of our restaurant team!

Corridor 109 is a chef-driven, 10-12 seat tasting counter with a focus on highlighting seafood as part of a modern tasting menu. Bar 109 is a separate concept in the same building with a full liquor, cocktail, wine, and sake program. 

The ideal candidate will have fine dining experience in both beverage and service, enjoy working in a small / flexible team, and be able to train service staff.  

Responsibilities:

  • Work as an Assistant Sommelier / Captain under the direction of the Chef / Owner Brian Baik to assist the front of house in both beverage and service at SMP Hospitality, which consists of Corridor 109 and Bar 109
  • Training FOH team in beverage service and fine dining service / protocol
  • Work Corridor 109 counter service with one FOH server assistant
  • Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and breakdown of restaurant and bar
  • Learn the ever-changing menu and have knowledge of the wine list and beverage program, and be able to explain the dishes to guests
  • The position will have general server responsibilities as part of the position and small team
  • Setup duties to include ironing napkins / linens, polishing wine glasses, tableware, menu printing and cutting, memorizing any guest allergies or dietary restrictions, beverage service, and explanations of dishes and menu items to guests. Additional tasks as needed for operations may be included.
  • Work in tandem with BOH team
  • General cleaning as may be required, including dishwashing, glass washing, glass polishing, bathroom maintenance, etc. 
  • Other responsibilities as part of the day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure company protocols and policies are upheld, including all health compliance requirements, setup, and cleanup procedures.
  • Arrive to work on time, following uniform policies and appropriate dress, and general workplace professionality. 
  • Weekly availability requirement of Wednesday-Saturday.

Requirements:

  • Must have minimum 3 years of FOH or relevant experience
  • Team player, no ego, we are looking for exceptional candidates that are willing to roll up their sleeves and do any and every task needed for the restaurant. Must have strong principles and integrity
  • Hospitality and alcohol service experience required. The right person and personality is more important to us than a pedigree of experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when called for 
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with focus on guest experience
  • Must complete RBS certification

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($17.87) plus tips
