About Nettare

Nettare is a dynamic bar and restaurant located in the heart of Ukrainian Village, Chicago. Our mission is to create a singular, intimate guest experience in which our chef-driven cuisine and curated beverage program are seamlessly integrated and play off of each other. We are dedicated to building a sustainable, supportive, and successful work environment.

You will be the first and last impression of Nettare and the primary orchestrator of the dining room flow, working closely with the entire Front of House leadership team.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As the Host & Maître D, you are the ambassador of hospitality and the operational traffic controller. Your core responsibilities blend high-level guest relations with organizational excellence.

  • Own the Guest Journey: Flawlessly execute the full Maître D service, including greeting, seating, coat check, and bidding farewell to every guest. Set the tone for the entire experience with genuinely warm, professional, and personalized hospitality.

  • Expert Reservation & Floor Management: Master the Resy reservation system. Strategically manage the flow of the dining room to optimize table turns and seating charts, maximizing revenue while balancing server workload and maintaining the desired pace and ambiance.

  • Ambassador of Ambiance: Take ownership of the physical presentation of the FOH, including lighting, music, restrooms, and overall cleanliness. Ensure the environment consistently reflects Nettare's sophisticated brand.

  • Manage Guest Relationships: Handle all phone and online correspondence, manage the waitlist, and skillfully address any reservation issues, guest concerns, or special requests with diplomacy and professionalism.

What We're Looking For: Qualifications

  • Proven experience (2+ years preferred) in a Host, Maître D, or lead reservationist role in a high-end, chef-driven, or high-volume environment.

  • Expert proficiency with the Resy reservation platform.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to think several steps ahead to manage the dining room flow proactively.

  • Impeccable communication and presentation skills—you are the face of the restaurant.

  • A mature, professional demeanor with the ability to remain calm and composed while managing a fast-paced environment and high guest expectations.

  • Schedule Commitment: You must be available for a 4-day work week (8-10 hour shifts), with mandatory availability for afternoon and evening shifts on weekends.
