Nettare is a dynamic bar and restaurant located in the heart of Ukrainian Village, Chicago. Our mission is to create a singular, intimate guest experience in which our chef-driven cuisine and curated beverage program are seamlessly integrated and play off of each other. You will join an experienced and dedicated team and report directly to the General Manager (GM). This is a vital, hands-on role for an experienced service professional ready to step into leadership without leaving the action of the dining room floor.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As the Service Captain, you are the ultimate hospitality professional and the direct steward of the guest experience. This is a highly active, floor-based role that combines serving tables with service leadership.

  • Lead the Guest Experience: Own the entire guest journey from arrival to departure. This includes taking your own section of tables while modeling and maintaining the highest standard of integrated food and beverage service.

  • Decisions on the Fly: Serve as the go-to leader for the Front of House (FOH) team, demonstrating comfort in a fast-paced environment and making swift, effective on-the-spot decisions to resolve service issues and ensure seamless flow.

  • FOH Training and Execution: Work closely with the General Manager (GM) to implement established service standards. You will be responsible for setting the tone for each shift, running pre-shift meetings, and providing in-the-moment coaching to the service staff.

  • Operational Support: Assist the GM with FOH administrative duties as needed, including opening/closing procedures, daily reporting, and managing reservations/table assignments.

What We're Looking For: Qualifications

  • Proven experience (2+ years preferred) as a highly experienced server or Service Captain in a fine-casual or chef-driven environment.

  • Exceptional comfort and proven ability to manage tables and deliver high-touch service in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make effective, decisive choices on the floor to enhance the guest experience and support the team.

  • A strong, demonstrable knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and integrated service.

  • An inherent passion for hospitality and a willingness to embrace our core values of work/life balance and collaborative leadership.
