Financial Controller

Unapologetic Foods is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our team!

Our ideal candidate is dynamic and grounded in their financial background, looking to bring their experience and proven systems to drive growth and scalability. This position is ideal for an individual looking to move into the C-Suite.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Oversee Full-Cycle Accounting Operations: Manage general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll processes. 

Ensure Financial Accuracy & Compliance: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and coordinate with external accountants.

Manage Financial Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate financial statements and analyze variance reports to provide insights into financial performance. 

Lead Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the annual budgeting process, forecast financial performance, and conduct cash flow modeling. 

Strengthen Internal Controls:  Implement and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to support scalable growth and sound financial practices. 

Provide Financial Guidance:  Serve as a business partner to operational leadership, offering financial insights and recommendations to drive revenue and control costs. Among the finance team, foster a positive, team-oriented culture - prioritizing accountability, professionalism, and an inviting environment. 

Manage Technology & Systems: Implement and improve financial systems and accounting software to enhance efficiency and automation. 

Handle Tax & Vendor Relations: Manage tax compliance and filings, and coordinate relationships with banks and other financial vendors.

Required skills and expertise:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or similar degree is required
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with a strong preference for experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., R365, POS systems, third party software integration), strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial controls, and audit processes.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and business acumen; ability to collaborate effectively with operational and executive teams.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 annually depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), PTO and dining discounts.
