Job Details
TenGoku Aburiya is one of the hottest Izakaya-style restaurants in Chicago, sister restaurant of Michelin recognized, Omakase Yume. We aim to create a welcoming environment serving a wide variety of drinks and small dishes to enjoy in our space. We are looking for Front of House staff that are excited to learn about Japanese cuisine and the art of hospitality.

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and detail-oriented Host/Hostess to join our team. The host is the first point of contact for our guests and plays a vital role in setting the tone for their dining experience. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival

  • Manage reservations and walk-ins using the reservation system

  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus

  • Maintain an organized and efficient seating chart to optimize flow of service

  • Communicate effectively with servers and management to ensure smooth operations

  • Answer phone calls, provide information about the restaurant, and assist with reservation inquiries

  • Assist with turning tables, special requests, and guest needs as necessary

  • Assist in FOH duties (Food running, bussing, etc) when necessary
 

Qualifications:

  • Previous hosting or hospitality experience preferred, but not required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Professional, polished, and positive demeanor

  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($17.00 - $19.00) plus tips
