Position Overview:
The Line Cook is responsible for ensuring the efficient preparation and execution of high-quality dishes both before and during service hours. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of each dish, following all food safety protocols, and working collaboratively with the kitchen team to achieve smooth operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive culinary knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a passion for delivering excellent food in a fast-paced environment.

Core Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare food in accordance with established recipes, food safety guidelines, and restaurant standards, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish.

  • Cooking Procedures: Demonstrate strong knowledge of proper cooking methods and techniques, ensuring that all items are cooked to perfection.

  • Shift Preparation: Organize and prepare items needed for each shift, ensuring efficiency during service hours.

  • Food Labeling and Rotation: Label, date, and store food items properly, following a strict food rotation system to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

  • Cleanliness & Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workstation, following all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe kitchen environment.

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Promptly report any malfunctioning equipment or issues to management for timely repairs.

  • Guest Satisfaction: Strive to exceed guest expectations by consistently delivering high-quality dishes and contributing to a positive dining experience.

  • Dish Integrity: Maintain the integrity of every dish, regardless of complexity, price point, or difficulty.

  • Team Communication: Maintain open, positive, and professional communication with fellow staff members and management at all times.

  • Policy Adherence: Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of prior kitchen experience in a similar role.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of food preparation and proper cooking procedures.

    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

    • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-paced, hot kitchen environment.

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Spanish-speaking skills are highly desirable.

    • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions with precision.

    • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

    • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights of up to 50 pounds.

    • Physical stamina to work in a high-heat environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience.
