General Description

The host is often the first impression of any new guests to the Wythe—it is imperative to provide a warm and genuine experience to the guests as they enter our space for the first time. It is essential to the Wythe Hotel that all guest relations are kind, thoughtful, personal and professional in a manner that is consistent with our ethos. The host manages the restaurant floor plan ensuring that guests are seated in an accurate and timely manner. They effectively communicate with guests to update them on wait-times, confirm special occasions and facilitate with both our venues as needed to reserve tables for our walk-in guests.

Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Greeting guests in a polite and hospitable manner, making in-person reservations and assisting with guest requests and questions
  • Welcome all guests warmly and with a positive attitude 
  • Offering assistance to our guests with coats, bags, strollers, etc.
  • Handling the reservation system to make guest’s check-in and seating as smooth as possible
  • Maintaining updated table information in the reservation system
  • Conveying all appropriate guest information to managers, staff and chefs (e.g. VIP’s, special occasions, special requests, etc.)
  • Quoting accurate wait times (if appropriate) for walk-in guests and effectively managing wait-list
  • Accommodating guest requests whenever possible
  • Offering a warm farewell to every guest as they leave the restaurant
  • Immediately notifying management of any guest complaints, including any interactions with a guest that leads the host to believe that the guest is not 100% happy with their visit
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly host stand and entrance area
  • Liaising with the reservations and management teams to confirm all bookings are up to date and accurate

Position Skills & Requirements 

  • Experience with Resy preferred
  • Able to lift up to 20lbs
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely 
  • Able to work as part of a team 
  • Able to work in a fast pace, noisy environment
