Bartender

Family Meal at Blue Hill, located in New York City just off Washington Square Park, is seeking a passionate and professional Captain / Bartender.

Family Meal at Blue Hill is a Michelin starred restaurant and leading voice in the sustainable food movement. Located in the original space opened by Chef Dan Barber, Family Meal strives to provide intimate dining experiences that evoke the sensations of dinner with friends and family while highlighting locally sourced and environmentally conscious ingredients.

Responsibilities:

The Captain / Bartender position is primarily responsible for providing exceptional dining room service and supporting the service team as a Captain, with additional responsibility for bartending and beverage service as needed and scheduled. Previous experience in fine-dining service roles is preferred.

• Creating a welcoming and friendly environment for guests and team members.
• Have an understanding of food and beverage items in order to guide guests through their dining experience, including an understanding of dietary restrictions and allergens.
• Communicate guests' needs with care to all dining room service team members and kitchen staff.
• Assist in the execution of service, including serving guests, providing guidance to other team members, and performing the necessary tasks for smooth execution of various service goals.
• Adapting to daily menu changes and various menu formats between the main dining room and private dining spaces.
• Ensure that high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety protocols are met at all times.
• Perform all other aspects of service when necessary including running food, clearing tables, restocking service items, maintaining service areas, polishing and cleaning.
• The Captain / Bartender position is also responsible for assisting the bar team as needed, including regular bartending shifts. Perform all tasks required to open the bar for service, maintain a clean and organized bar station, execute cocktail orders in a timely manner, and maintain knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and all ingredients available.

The Details:

• Compensation: $17.00 per hour with tips.

• Location & Hours: Full-time, in-person position at Family Meal at Blue Hill in Manhattan, NY. Must be available for evenings and weekends including lunch services on Saturday and Sunday.
