Captain

Family Meal at Blue Hill, located in New York City just off Washington Square Park, is seeking a passionate and professional Captain.

Family Meal at Blue Hill is a Michelin starred restaurant and leading voice in the sustainable food movement. Located in the original space opened by Chef Dan Barber, Family Meal strives to provide intimate dining experiences that evoke the sensations of dinner with friends and family while highlighting locally sourced and environmentally conscious ingredients.

• Experienced: At least 2 years of experience in a fine-dining setting.

Responsibilities:

• Creating a welcoming and friendly environment for guests and team members 
• Have an understanding of food and beverage items in order to guide guests through their dining experience, including an understanding of dietary restrictions and allergens.
• Communicate guests' needs with care to all dining room service team members and kitchen staff.
• Willing to learn about spirits, wine, beer and wine service procedures.
• Assist in the execution of service, including serving guests, providing guidance to other team members, and performing the necessary tasks for smooth execution of various service goals.
• Ensure that high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety protocols are met at all times.
• Adapting to daily menu changes and various menu formats between the main dining room and private dining spaces.

The Details: 

• Compensation: $16.50 per hour with tips.
• Benefits: Access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K, and Paid Time Off.
• Location & Hours: Full-time, in-person position at Family Meal at Blue Hill in Manhattan, NY. Must be available for evenings and weekends including lunch services on Saturday and Sunday.
