After undergoing a transformative restoration, The Waldorf Astoria New York is set to reignite its magnetic allure.  The Waldorf Astoria New York is seeking a Server - Yoshoku to unveil a new era of luxury which embodies the spirit of New York City. 

With a fresh, modern expression of its rich, authentic legacy, Waldorf Astoria provides guests the exceptional environment and the personalized attention of True Waldorf Service that creates unforgettable experiences for discerning travelers with 375 rooms (plus 375 residences), 40,000 square feet of event space, holistic spa and wellness programming, and celebrity chef partnership. At Waldorf Astoria, we create unforgettable experiences for our guests, meaningful opportunities for our Team Members, and a positive impact in our community. Find our Yoshoku, Japanese dining through the Park Avenue entrance of the hotel, where an a la cart menu reinterprets traditional Japanese culinary practices through a contemporary lens. The Waldorf Astoria New York 

 

 

  • Classification: Full-Time
  • Shift: Various – must be available weekdays, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Pay Rate: The pay rate for this role is $17.81 - $21.7488 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location. 
  • Union Position: This position is part of the Local 6 Union which requires complete open availability. We are not able to accommodate schedule restrictions and full-time hours are not guaranteed. Hours and schedule are based on seniority and business needs and may be minimal at times until seniority is established.  You must be comfortable with a schedule and hours that may vary from week to week. 

 

 

What will I be doing?

As a Server at Yoshoku, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Greet guests warmly, using their names whenever possible, and engage with them in a manner that reflects the refined standards of the restaurant.
  • Respond to guest requests promptly and efficiently, ensuring a personalized and attentive service experience.
  • Demonstrate a genuine sense of interest in guests' needs, providing expert recommendations and creating a memorable dining experience.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and restaurant promotions to provide accurate information and enhance the guest experience.
  • Take food and beverage orders, input orders into the point-of-sale system, and ensure that all details are accurately captured.
  • Retrieve and deliver food and beverages in a timely manner, ensuring that each order is presented to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the meal, addressing any concerns or needs promptly and with a positive attitude.
  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
  • Keep your station well-stocked with necessary supplies to ensure a smooth service.
  • Clearing and cleaning tables throughout the meal service, ensuring each table is prepared for the next guest with meticulous attention to detail and a seamless transition.

We are looking for a Server who is passionate about delivering an exceptional dining experience and aligned with our commitment to achieving Forbes 5-Star standards. This role requires someone with a refined understanding of high-end service, anticipatory hospitality, and a genuine interest in Japanese cuisine and omakase-style service. The ideal candidate will bring both knowledge and enthusiasm to the table, engaging guests with a thoughtful and professional approach, ensuring every guest feels valued, and enhancing their dining experience through impeccable service.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a server, preferably in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and beverages, ideally including omakase-style service.
  • Ability to engage with guests with a genuine sense of interest, remembering their names and preferences to create a personalized and memorable experience.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and delivering Forbes 5-Star level service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries and requests.
  • Must possess a valid Food Handler Card and Alcohol Awareness certification prior to being offered the position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
