Bar Manager

Union Hall is a bar, restaurant, and performance venue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our leadership team. Must be available nights, schedule would be Weds-Sunday (with some flexibility based on candidate). 

This role is hands-on and floor-focused: ensuring smooth bar operations, supporting the staff, and helping maintain high standards and a warm atmosphere. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving in real time, and has strong communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily floor and bar operations during service

• Support and lead FOH & BOH staff, ensuring clear communication and consistency

• Manage bar systems, including some ordering, inventory, and product changes

• Act as point of contact for event and group bookings during service

• Uphold venue policies and maintain compliance with health & safety standards

• Collaborate with GM and ownership on operations, scheduling, and training

• Contribute to ongoing projects such as bar menu programming and operational improvements

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years experience in bar or restaurant positions

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• Hands-on experience with bar operations, ordering, and inventory systems

• Comfort handling both service shifts and back-of-house responsibilities

• Ability to balance a guest-first mentality with efficient team management

• Familiarity with high-volume environments

• NYC Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain)
