Accounting / Bookkeeper

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are looking for an experienced hospitality / restaurant-oriented bookkeeper. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices for restaurant operations, as well as be familiar with the complexities of intercompany transactions. This position calls for a highly detail-oriented individual who thrives in a small team environment and can handle a high volume of financial activity. We’re seeking someone who is reliable, communicative, solutions-focused, and a strong team collaborator. The Bookkeeper will be essential in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the broader FP&A operations. This role reports directly to the Finance Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

AR/AP

• Review invoices for proper documentation and approval, and enter them into accounting software
• Identify and resolve any discrepancies between invoices and records
• Maintain all FP&A data in our software software suite, ensuring accuracy
• Communicate with vendors to clarify payment-related concerns and provide payment status updates
• Prepare supporting documents for audits as needed
• Assist with month-end closing activities
• Ensure sub-ledgers are up to date and reconcile them with the general ledger
• Track and record expenses accurately for compliance and tax reporting

Bookkeeping

• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner (by the 10th of each month)
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Online, including daily transaction entry, categorizing expenses, reconciling vendor invoices, and ensuring all records align with internal reporting standards
• Support regular reporting processes by preparing financial summaries and organizing records 
• Monitor cash flow and flag any unusual activity or errors for further review
• Prepare and organize all necessary documentation for weekly payroll processing, including compiling timesheets, tracking hourly wages and tips

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role, specifically with AR/AP in the restaurant industry
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Skilled in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently
