Job Description

Barbuto Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated and passionate Chef de Partie to join our growing culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the opening of our Brooklyn location, working closely with Chef Jonathan Waxman’s team to deliver ingredient-driven, seasonal, Italian-inspired cuisine in a dynamic and professional environment.

As Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for managing your assigned station with consistency, precision, and pride. You will work alongside a collaborative kitchen team to uphold Barbuto’s standards of excellence while contributing your own skills and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily mise en place and service for your station to the highest standards.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and accuracy in every dish leaving the kitchen.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all DOH and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow cooks, sous chefs, and FOH team to ensure smooth service.
  • Assist in training junior cooks and supporting the growth of the team.
  • Contribute to the creative process by bringing ideas and enthusiasm for seasonal ingredients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role in a high-volume, ingredient-driven restaurant.
  • Strong technical foundation in classic and modern cooking techniques.
  • Passion for Italian cuisine and seasonally inspired cooking.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Commitment to teamwork, growth, and excellence.


Compensation

  • $24.30 – $27.30 per hour (based on experience)
  • Full-time position

The West Village restaurant Barbuto has been a neighborhood gathering spot welcoming locals and visitors alike for over 15 years. Barbuto first opened its doors in February 2004 in its original location at Washington & Jane Streets, where it was truly a staple. After reopening in October 2021, the restaurant is well on its way to earning that status again in its new home at 113 Horatio Street at West Street, a mere three hundred steps from the original.

The name means “bearded” in Italian. When developing the concept, Jonathan and his business partner at the time Fabrizio Ferri both sported beards; so did Fabrizio’s Irish Wolfhound Gideon, who is immortalized in the logo. It just made sense.

At its heart, Barbuto is a casual restaurant offering Chef Jonathan Waxman’s celebrated Californian-Italian cuisine that is simple & seasonal.
