Reports to: General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Floor Manager, and Beverage Director

Position Summary

The Server is the face of Golden Steer NYC, embodying hospitality and ensuring each guest experiences the timeless tradition of a classic steakhouse. With deep menu knowledge, precise service execution, and warm communication, you will guide guests through their dining journey—from first greeting to last course. You will manage tables with professionalism, anticipate guest needs, and deliver service with efficiency, consistency, and charm. A signature part of this role is confidently performing tableside preparations, honoring Golden Steer’s legacy of interactive, classic service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Service Excellence: Welcome guests warmly, provide knowledgeable menu and wine guidance, and ensure memorable dining experiences.
  • Tableside Preparations: Execute Golden Steer’s signature tableside presentations (such as Caesar salads, flambés, and carved specialties) with precision, flair, and consistency.
  • Order Accuracy: Take and enter orders clearly, confirm modifications/allergies, and coordinate seamlessly with kitchen and bar teams.
  • Timing & Flow: Monitor table pacing, coordinate with support staff, and deliver courses with precision.
  • Standards & Consistency: Execute service steps as trained—beverages, bread service, upselling features, and presenting checks.
  • Hospitality & Professionalism: Handle guest requests, complaints, and special occasions with grace and care.
  • Team Support: Assist fellow servers, food runners, and bussers; step into other roles as needed to ensure smooth service.
  • Cleanliness & Organization: Maintain polished stations, sidework par levels, and sanitation protocols at all times.
  • Salesmanship & Personality: Use charm, confidence, and product knowledge to elevate the guest experience—upselling wine, cocktails, and menu features in a genuine and engaging way.
  • Beverage Knowledge: Maintain a strong understanding of wine, cocktails, and classic pairings to guide guest choices and enhance their meal.

Experience & Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • 2+ years of serving experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant.
  • Experience with tableside service or interactive dining presentations strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of classic steakhouse fare, wine, and cocktails; WSET or sommelier experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tables during peak service while keeping composure.
  • NYC Food Protection Certificate or willingness to obtain preferred.
  • Clear verbal communication; English required, Spanish a plus.
Operations & Compliance
  • Uphold NYC DOH sanitation standards; ensure allergy protocols are strictly followed.
  • Execute responsible alcohol service in accordance with local laws.
Teamwork & Culture
  • Show up prepared and ready to deliver excellence; communicate proactively with managers and teammates.
  • Contribute to training and mentoring new staff.
  • Represent Golden Steer with professionalism and pride, both on and off the floor.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
  • Stand and move swiftly for 8–10 hours; carry trays up to 25 lbs.
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays required.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate plus tips, benefits, and growth opportunities within a chef-driven, classic steakhouse culture. Final compensation commensurate with experience.
