Job Details

Job Title: Lead Baker

Location: 619 Saint John's Pl, 11238, Brooklyn

Position Type: Full-Time

Hours: 9:30 am - 6 pm (5 days a week / Wednesday - Sunday) (subject to change) (*weekend availability is a must)

Anticipated Start Date: Immediately

Pay: $23 - $25 / hourly  + tip pool 

 

Lisbonata is a Brooklyn-based artisanal bakery dedicated to Pastéis de Nata, Portugal’s beloved custard tart. We’re seeking a Lead Baker to join our team and ensure our pastries are crafted with care and consistency every single day.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys routine, takes pride in precision, and has a passion for lamination and fine pastry craft. Since we focus on one product, attention to detail and consistency are key to our success.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years of professional baking experience with laminated pastries.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of lamination (required).

  • Reliability and ability to work well as part of a team.

  • Consistent, detail-oriented, and highly organized in daily tasks.

  • Proactive and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational and management abilities.

  • Clear and effective communication with both team members and leadership.

  • Passion for contributing to Lisbonata’s reputation as NYC’s home for Pastéis de Nata.

  • Valid NYC Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily pastry production with a primary focus on laminating, shaping, portioning, and baking.

  • Consistently produce pastries that meet the highest standards of flavor, texture, and appearance.

  • Ensure precision and efficiency throughout every stage of production.

  • Maintain bakery equipment, tools, and workspace to keep everything clean, safe, and in excellent condition.

  • Step in wherever needed — we’re a small team, and everyone contributes.

  • Uphold food safety, sanitation, and allergen standards at all times.

  • Manage labeling, dating, and inventory organization to reduce waste.
