JOB OVERVIEW:
A bartender is responsible for curating and executing an exceptional dining experience that reflects the ACH standards. This role requires knowledge of our signature classic and modern cocktails, advanced spirits and wine knowledge, impeccable service, and a polished, composed demeanor. Bartenders are expected to maintain an organized bar while consistently delivering memorable guest experiences in line with the ACH's philosophy. A bartender must uphold the standards of excellence that define JKS, professional etiquette and compliance with all health, safety and labor regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide an exceptional level of hospitality, cultivating warm and genuine relationships with our guests to ensure their satisfaction and loyalty.
- Take a proactive approach to customer service, anticipating and addressing guests' needs and preferences before they arise.
- Craft cocktails with precision, speed and creativity using fresh, house-made, and premium ingredients.
- Prepare drinks to exact specifications of the restaurant’s curated and seasonal cocktail menus.
- Offer thoughtful, knowledgeable suggestions for cocktails, spirits, aperitifs, digestifs and wine offerings.
- Maintain deep knowledge of cocktail history, balance, technique and glassware selection
- Ensure pacing and beverage service complement coursed meals or tasting/feast menus.
- Educate guests on spirits, wine, or cocktail pairings upon request.
- Communicate confidently and professionally with guests, guiding them through the menu options articulately and accurately.
- Accurately place orders in the POS system and charge guests, ensuring allergen information is clearly noted and communicated to the kitchen.
- Set up and break down the bar station alongside barbacks to high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Polish glassware, maintain tools and ensure mise en place is consistent throughout shift.
- Monitor and restock inventory of spirits, mixers, garnishes and ice alongside barbacks as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and health code-compliant work area per NYS Department of Health and OSHA regulations
- Coordinate smoothly with barbacks, servers and managers to support service timing and delivery.
- Support floor service with beverage orders, wine/cocktail pairings, and guest interactions.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings and stay informed of menu updates, special events and VIP guests.
- Accurately place orders in the POS system and charge guests, ensuring allergen information is clearly noted and communicated to the kitchen.
- Assist with the development of junior staff members, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Attend briefings, meetings, and training sessions to stay informed about menu offerings, service protocols and industry best practices.
- Complete relevant checklists and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and quality in service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum (2) years in a similar position
- Good time-management and teamwork skills
- Pride in appearance.
- Proactive in learning about food, beverage and wine.
- Warm and professional in communicating with guests.
- Constantly strive to improve personal and professional development.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
