The Role
We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house operations. This person will work closely with ownership and the FOH team to ensure smooth daily service, uphold high standards of food quality and safety, and help us foster a positive, collaborative kitchen culture.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including prep, service, and closing procedures
- Manage and schedule BOH staff, ensuring adequate coverage and smooth coordination with FOH
- Train, mentor, and support kitchen team members, fostering a respectful and motivating environment
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with leadership on menu execution, seasonal changes, and new ideas
- Support in hiring and onboarding BOH team members
- Monitor food costs and help manage BOH labor costs within budget
- Assist in planning and executing special events and private dinners
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in kitchen management or supervisory role (café or restaurant experience preferred)
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, scheduling, and ordering systems
- Knowledge of food safety standards and BOH compliance in San Francisco
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, community-driven café environment
- Passion for food, hospitality, and team development
