Job Overview:
Yi-Cha, a new Korean gastropub opening its doors in the heart of the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Porter/Dishwasher to join our kitchen team. The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. This role is crucial for ensuring that all kitchenware, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the kitchen.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchenware
Scrape, soak, and rinse dishes before loading them into the dishwashing machine
Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and equipment manually when necessary
Ensure all dishes are clean and free of food residue before they are returned to the kitchen or dining area
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all dishes, pots, pans, utensils and other kitchenware, as well as the dish washing station
Dispose of trash and recyclables and ensure proper handling of waste materials
Assist with the organization and proper storing of product which includes but not limited to; produce, proteins, dry goods, and cleaning & paper supplies.
Assist with basic food preparation when needed.
Responsible for restaurant cleaning task that may include but not limited to;
Sweeping and mopping kitchen/bathrooms/dining room/storage and walk-ins.
Cleaning walls/shelving and other kitchenware storage areas
Keeping the dish station clean and neat at the end of every shift.
Cleaning trash bins
Disposing of grease traps and dirty oil in their respective bins.
Monitor and maintain dishwashing supplies and notify the supervisor when stock is low
Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines and protocols
The Job will require late night hours of work. Hires can expect to work till 3am.
Desired Qualifications:
1-2 years experience in similar roles
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
Ability to work well within a team
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
Food Handler certification required.
Must be eligible to work in the the US
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
Stand and walk for an entire shift (up to 10 hrs), including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant
Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment
