Lei is a small and focused, Chinese Cuisine-driven wine bar in Chinatown. We are looking for a Line Cook who is organized, efficient, and excited to work with Chinese ingredients and techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Work closely with fellow kitchen staff to cook for nightly dinner service
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety, keeping workstations, utensils, and equipment sanitized and organized
- Set up cooking stations with necessary ingredients and tools for service
- Ensure proper portioning, plating, and presentation of dishes
- Assist in the preparation of mise as needed for service
- Follow all kitchen health and safety protocols and standards
- Assist with end-of-shift kitchen cleaning and breakdown of kitchen
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preferably in NYC
- Knowledge of Chinese ingredients and technique is not a necessity but a curiosity to learn is
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and follow directions
- Must be available to work evening shifts from 3 - close
- New York City Food Handler's Certification or be on track to obtain one by opening
