The Role:
Expo, Grill, Line Cook, Prep, Dishwasher 

The Back of House Team Member will be responsible for preparing ingredients at an establishment that serves food, processing customer orders, producing meals and cleaning their workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines. They follow recipes consistently, adjust based on customer requests, communicate with wait staff and prepare garnishes to make an attractive presentation for each meal. The BOH team member is responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious and cooked to the specifications of the customer but that is safe and fresh as well.

Day to Day:

These responsibilities highlight some of the key functions a BOH team member will perform. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
  • Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
  • Monitor station inventory levels
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
  • Clean and sanitize plates, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen tools using commercial dishwashing equipment or by hand
  • Prioritize washing based on the type and urgency of items to support smooth kitchen and dining operations
  • Load, run, and unload dishwashers while following all safety and sanitation standards
  • Organize and store clean dishes and utensils in their designated areas for easy access by kitchen and team members 
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing station, including sinks, floors, and surrounding areas
  • Take out trash, recyclables, and kitchen waste regularly to maintain a clean work environment

Requirements:

  • 1+ years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

After over a decade in Ann Arbor, Michigan, we’re thrilled to expand to Brooklyn with our first NYC location opening in Domino Park – Williamsburg. Rooted in the traditions of Cuban street food and inspired by Chef Eve’s childhood visits to Miami, our menu centers around the Frita—a chorizo-spiced burger with shoestring fries on a soft egg bun—and the Batido—a tropical milkshake made with fresh fruit, crushed ice, and sweetened milk, with or without rum! Everything is made from scratch, guided by the tenets of the Slow Food Movement and driven by Chef Eve’s twin passions: creating food with the highest standards and sharing the warmth of feeding people in a playful, anything-goes environment.
