Catering Prep Cook

Catering By Design is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our growing team.
We are a full-service catering company based in Philadelphia, known for our handcrafted, seasonal menus and high-touch service. Our cuisine draws inspiration from around the world, with a strong commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and thoughtful execution.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a team of passionate professionals and contribute to a wide variety of events—from intimate gatherings to large-scale galas.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily prep tasks efficiently and accurately according to established recipes and guidelines

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation

• Properly handle, label, and store ingredients and prepared foods

• Assist in production for both on- and off-site events, ensuring consistency and quality

• Communicate effectively with the culinary team to stay ahead of prep needs and timelines

• Uphold food safety standards and health code regulations at all times

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a prep or production kitchen role

• Strong knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment

• Ability to follow recipes and execute prep with precision

• Punctual, reliable, and a team player

• Must be available weekdays between 8AM–6PM; occasional weekend hours may be required for event support

• Passion for sustainability and experience with waste-conscious cooking is a plus
