West Town Bakery & Diner is growing and looking for friendly and caring servers who enjoy being around people and working in a fast-paced environment! West Town Bakery is a fun, fast-paced environment with a wonderful fresh pastry selection, Dark Matter espresso bar, and a cool, neighborhood atmosphere. It’s a fun place to work and a great place to start a career too.
A server will be in charge of his or her section on the dining room floor. Serving signature beverages and delicious diner fare while creating a lively environment for their guests.
-Prepares room for service by setting tables, condiments, utensil rollups, etc.
-Help guests select food & beverages by presenting menu, offering beer/wine/drinks, suggesting options, explaining the specials, offering dessert, answering food prep questions, etc
-Send orders to barista/bar and kitchen by recording patrons' choices, indentifying patrons' special dietary needs & special requests.
-Serves orders by running guests' choices from barista/bar and kitchen, delivering sides and condiments, etc.
-Responds to additional guest requests by inquiring of needs, odbering dining process.
-Maintains table settings by removing plates/dishes as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling waters and coffees as well as other drinks, being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
-Concludes guest experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant, inviting patrons to return, offering loyalty card sign up.
-Contributes to overall team effort by accomplishing related results and working together.
Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Complying with health and food safety standards, restocking items, cleaning,
Operating the cash register, answering the phone, providing great customer service, and following Fifty/50 Restaurant Group policies & procedures
Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed.
Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours or as needed.
Be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data.
Work in both warm and cool environments
High levels of noise from music, customer and employee traffic.
Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
Qualifications, Education and Behavior
At least 18 years old.
Have a minimum of 1 year serving experience
Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures.
Ability to properly handle a knife, confidently.
Active social media presence
Ability to work early morning hours.
Ability to work consistent schedule at least 3 days per week.
Must have an an Illinois Food Service Handler's certificate & be BASSET certified.
