Cashier

Zeitlin's Delicatessen is a Jewish Deli that uses the city of Chicago as our inspiration.  Started by two brothers, Zeitlin’s focusses on classic Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine using local produce, grains, and ingredients.  

We are actively looking for cashiers in a quick service environment.  

Background:  You are driving on Clybourn, listening to Paul Simon, and thinking about your childhood, how it was just yesterday when your family went to the Deli together, making memories that are with you til this day.  Out of no where, you see a bright green sign.  On it, ZEITLIN'S DELICATESSEN is front and center.  The name is calling you from your car so you find parking and quickly make your way in.  Black penny tile graces the atrium before entering a big glass door.  You walk in to find a smiling face, eagerly waiting to welcome you with warmth, generosity, and the desire to find the right Deli order for you.  Shelves of bagels are organized, with a dozen flavors purfuming the dining room.  In 70 seconds, your order is taken with precision, care, and admiration for the moment.  The order that was just placed was an order you placed numerous times in other Deli's... but this Deli is different.  It feels like an old friend, a warm hug, the dining experience at a Deli you have been waiting for.  Your food runner comes with a piping hot bowl of Matzoball soup (with noodles), challah french toast sticks, and a Reuben.  Everything smells divine, looks delicious, and the first bite... It just feels right.  You take a look back at the cashier and give a head nod.  The cashier thanks you with a smile and feels accomplished that your happiness is profound.  This is just but a few moments in time we desire to share with you at Zeitlin's Delicatessen.  

Job Description:
The cashiers are an integral role to our team, for each dine in order is placed at the register.  The cashiers responsibility is to leave our patrons taken care of with "Unreasonable Hospitality".  This person must have terrific organization, great people skills, and the desire to serve while selling.  Aspects of this role are:

• Greet customers as they enter the Deli

• Accurately handle credit, and debit transactions using a POS system

• communicate our menu with an enthusiastic way.

• Maintain a clean and organized POS/Coffee area

• Answer customer questions on menu and provide guidance when needed

• Provide assistance and work directly with General manager

• Restock shelves and maintain merchandise displays as needed.  Think BIG PICTURE!

• Follow all store policies and procedures regarding transactions and security
