Job Details

Duck Island Cafe is seeking a dependable, skilled Line Cook to join our dedicated back-of-house team. Located inside the historic Prospect Park, our cafe serves a seasonal, locally inspired menu focused on high-quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.

As a Line Cook, you will play a key role in executing dishes with consistency, speed, and attention to detail. We are a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen, especially on weekends, and we’re looking for someone who can stay focused under pressure while maintaining a clean and organized workstation.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook menu items to spec, ensuring proper portioning, flavor, and presentation

  • Assist with prep work, station setup, and closing duties

  • Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards throughout your shift

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff

  • Contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented kitchen culture

Requirements:
  • 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen or high-volume food service setting

  • Ability to follow recipes and plating guidelines with accuracy

  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation best practices (NYC Food Handler’s card is a plus)

  • Punctuality, reliability, and a collaborative mindset

  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed
