Gelateria Gentile is seeking talented and enthusiastic Pastry Cooks to join our team!

From Bari, Italy, to New York, Gelateria Gentile is on a journey of growth! With five active locations and more on the horizon, we’re seeking an experienced professional to lead our expanding operations in the New York area.

The pastry cook will primarily prepare pastries, desserts, and other items according to Gelateria Gentile's recipe. The position is seasonal, through the end of September 2025, with the potential to become a regular role depending on performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and create a variety of pastries using our equipment and recipes.

  • Ensure the highest quality standards in all gelato and pastry production aspects, including ingredient selection, measurement accuracy, and consistent production.

  • Operate and maintain our machines, ensuring they are clean, calibrated, and in optimal working condition.

  • Interact with other team members in a positive, friendly manner.

  • Assist in inventory management, including monitoring ingredient levels, organizing stock, and placing orders when necessary.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, following health and safety guidelines.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years in a pastry or gelato position.

  • Basic math and measuring skills.

  • Availability to work weekends.

  • NYC Food Handler Card.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish ) is preferred.

A passion for Italian gelato 
is the family tradition:
-MICHELE'S KIOSK
The origins of the Antica Gelateria Gentile date back to 1880 and to the story of Michele Gentile, a descendant of a family of pastry and gelato makers.
The immediate popularity he received with his granita led Michele to open a small kiosk in Bari, in the southeast of Italy.
-GIGINO'S PIZZERIA
In 1930, Luigi was born, known to everyone as Gigino. He learned the art of gelato making from his father and the art of pizza making from his uncles.
Gigino opened the Pizzeria Gelateria Gentile and along with his wife Laura and his daughter Chiara, he distinguished himself because of his delicious products.
-FRANCESCO'S PASTRIES
In that little kiosk, Michele passed on his art to his son Francesco who, in the 1920s, opened his own business.
This is how the Pasticceria Gelateria Gentile was born, in a renovated location that was characterized by the usual quality and hospitality.
-CHIARA, HER CHILDREN, AND GELATO
In 2009, Chiara and her children Viviana, Fabio, and Francesco brought the Antica Gelateria Gentile back to its historical location in Bari
Over time, ancient art comes to the US. Gentile's recipes live again in NYC: a new adventure starts.
