Job Details
Liar Liar is a new wine bar in Gowanus, Brooklyn, serving French/New American fare. We have been featured in Eater, the Infatuation, the New Yorker, among others. We opened in January of this year, and quickly found ourselves regularly at capacity. To accommodate demand, we renovated and expanded the dining area, the work of which finished last month, adding an additional 35 seats (making a total of around 85).
Given these developments, we're looking for an experienced and ambitious cook who could help us handle the increased volume, and the coming additions to the kitchen team. Helping train new cooks, helping inventory management, and helping to integrate new menu items are all responsibilities you should be comfortable taking on. We want someone who will hold down our day-to-day operations, with the potential for a more managerial position definitely in the near horizon.

Gastronomically, we look to deliver classic and accessible dishes, with a special focus on historic techniques. We intend to continue to develop and refine our menu as a constantly evolving project, both in the kitchen program and the wine program. This is a good place for anyone who is looking to grow their wine knowledge, as we regularly do wine tastings with both front and back of house.
The kinds of qualities we're looking for are:
- Organizationally minded
- Detail-oriented
- Willing to collaborate creatively
- Strong understanding in food safety
- Able to handle the stresses of a high-volume kitchen environment
- A joy for food and cooking.
