We are looking for a part-time barista (10-20 hours per week)
Brooklyn Public Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza

At Emma's Torch we provide refugees with culinary training, ESL classes and interview preparation. We set them up for successful employment in an industry in which their cultural heritage and cuisine can be celebrated. What’s more, we provide a community in which they can build supportive relationships.
Who Do We Hire?

You are motivated to learn more about the industry and take on more responsibility over time. You are friendly and respectful of all people from all backgrounds. You are committed to fostering a positive environment for our guests and fellow coworkers. Prior barista experience is necessary, a positive attitude and hunger to learn is mandatory. Being multilingual is a plus!
- Make and serve coffee and tea beverages
- Greet our guests while being warm and welcoming
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work station
- Comply with health and safety regulations (NYS Food Handler's a plus)
- Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
- Contribute to a positive team environment
- Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
- Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Basic math skills
- Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
- Excellent communication skills
- High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($20.00 - $21.00)
