General Manager

Zeitlin’s Delicatessen is currently seeking a General Manager to join the team at our Clybourn Location.

About Zeitlin’s Delicatessen:  Zeitlin’s Delicatessen is a local Jewish Deli that uses the city of Chicago as inspiration.  After years of scaling the business through multiple farmers markets, extensive catering, and an ever expanding wholesale program, Zeitlin’s Delicatessen is excited to be opening their Brick and Mortar Location.  Showcasing fresh bagels, sourdough bread, prepared foods, beverage program, and more, Zeitlin’s focuses on tradition while thinking forward.
 

Restaurant Manager's Responsibilities:  

• Supervise and support all FOH team members, including cashiers, baristas, and food runners.
• Oversee daily customer service and promptly resolve any service issues or complaints.
• Manage FOH staffing schedules, including assigning shifts for the Farmers Market and confirming staffing support via Slack, email, or text.
• Ensure accurate processing and customer handoff of all third-party orders (EzCater, Grubhub, UberEats, Doordash, Sharebite, etc.).
• Train FOH staff on POS systems, delivery platforms, food assembly, and front-line service standards.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professionalism in the front-of-house area.
• Have in depth experience with Toast
• Track and manage FOH inventory and supply needs (e.g., packaging, utensils, labels).
• Coordinate actively with the BOH team to ensure seamless service and order flow.
• Be willing to work weekends
• Submit or oversee completion of Daily FOH Reports and support documentation of pre-order spreadsheets.

Strategize through weekly meetings with our marketing team and sales team. 

• This is an ideal position for someone who is dedicated to providing great service and who identifies as a (CPSO) Chief Problem Solving Officer

Physical Requirements: 

• Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds  
• Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces
