Summary:
Hakubai is a newly redesigned fine-dining Japanese restaurant located in The Prince Kitano Hotel, New York City’s only Japanese owned and operated luxury hotel. The menu features a 9-course Kaiseki tasting menu focused on seasonal ingredients with traditional execution. The hotel is conveniently located for both business and leisure travelers on New York City’s coveted Park Avenue near Grand Central Station.

 

We are seeking for an experienced and refined Captain to participate in this elegant fine-dining Japanese cuisine.

Description:
Captain ensures that guests have a pleasant and memorable dining experience. Monitors setup, maintenance, cleanliness and safety of Dining areas. Our Captains are career motivated and inquisitive with the desire to learn new service styles and techniques. This individual must coordinate food service between kitchen and dining staff. Knowledge of Japanese ingredients and beverages is required. Reports directly to the Restaurant Manager.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum of 4 years serving experience required in fine dining or upscale restaurant.
• Professional, articulate, friendly, and punctual.
• Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional customer service.
• Full time flexible hours are required.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull; lift 30 lbs.
• Proficient in computer skills including POS systems, Word and Excel.
• Manage the guest reservation system.
• To receive and greet guests; assist with seating.
• Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
• Upselling of beverages
• Check tables throughout service times for Member satisfaction, resolve Member/guest complaints.
• Bilingual in English and Japanese is preference.

• Able to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail; ability to multi-task
• Must have good communication and ability to promote sales.
• Must be skilled in time management.
• Must have teaching and motivational skills.

This is a full-time position - the restaurant will operate evenings from Tuesday through Saturday.
