From the Philadelphia hospitality group CookNSolo, behind celebrated concepts such as Zahav, Laser Wolf, Goldie, K’Far, and Lilah: Dizengoff is hiring a Sous Chef to join the team.
This Sous Chef will be on a leadership team that is passionate about fostering a positive work culture, deepening their team’s culinary knowledge, and is committed to the guest experience. This individual is exceedingly dependable, puts forth a great attitude, and has a desire to learn and grow each day. A minimum of three years experience is required.
Dizengoff's kitchen is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-9pm, and Friday-Saturday from 11am-10pm.
Weekend availability is required.
Sous Chef Expectations:

Work hand-in-hand with fellow FOH and BOH managers to oversee service while continuously thinking of areas for growth

Be team oriented and ready to step in and come to the aid of your staff at any time

Support service by jumping in on food preparation, on the line, and in dish plating
-
Must thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen

Develop and assist to oversee changing of the menus, and overall meal presentations

Be a strong and diligent communicator

Ensure the kitchen staff operates in a timely manner

Oversee inventory and reordering of supplies

Recruit and train new staff for all BOH positions

Ensure the quality of product is of the highest standard

Ensure food safety and sanitation regulations are of the highest standard

Write the kitchen team schedule

Be a problem solver

Work on weekends

Named for one of Tel Aviv’s most iconic streets, Dizengoff first landed stateside in Philadelphia over the summer of 2014. Modeled on the hummus stalls (“hummusiya”) found around every corner of Israel, Dizengoff — co-owned by Chef Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook of CookNSolo Restaurants — helped to popularize Israeli-style Hummus as a complete and satisfying meal.
After closing for expansion in August of 2023, Dizengoff re-opened in January of 2024 as a full-service restaurant with 95 seats that include a bar (plus an extended sidewalk cafe in the warmer months). Offering both lunch and dinner, the nightly menu remains centered around Hummus Bowls with house-baked Pita, with a focus on classic toppings (like Hummus Yerushalmi –– ground beef with baharat, and pine nuts). Other menu highlights are Pita Sandwiches, Mezze Salads, and Entrees, including Crispy Falafel-battered Whole Fish with cabbage and amba, and Lamb Neck with grape molasses.
