We are thrilled to announce that Tom Colicchio’s Italian trattoria Vallata on 19th Street & Park Avenue South is expanding their operation to include lunch service.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Counter Person to join our team at Vallata. As the first point of contact for our customers, the Counter Person will be responsible for greeting customers, taking orders, providing excellent service, and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors. The hours for this shift will be 10:30am-4:00pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, both in person and over the phone.
- Recommend menu items, answer questions about ingredients, and accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Ensure customer orders are prepared correctly and promptly.
- Handle cash, process payments, and provide correct change as needed.
- Keep the counter area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Assist with the preparation of sandwiches and other menu items as needed.
- Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain a positive attitude and teamwork-focused environment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer service or food service role preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a busy environment with occasional noise.

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
