Apply to join the growing Thattu team! Thattu is an Indian comfort food concept highlighting cuisine from the southwestern coastal state of Kerala. Our lunch menu tends toward a traditional approach while our dinner menu leans to a more creative approach.

The food stall turned brick and mortar restaurant has received both local and national recognition. Thattu celebrated the 2 year anniversary and are looking forward to growing our team. From Chef Margaret's Jean Banchet Rising Chef nomination, to recognition from NY Times Restaurant List 2023, Chicago Magazine Best New Restaurant 2023, and Eater National Best New Restaurant 2023.

We are currently seeking a part time server (transitioning to a full time position in a month) who are passionate about food, hardworking, eager to learn new things, and willing to work as a great team player. For this position we are specifically looking for dinner shifts especially on the weekends

* We will provide a base rate of $17 + pooled tips for the shift
* We operate on a group service model for the front of house with no one assigned to a specific table and communication and teamwork is extremely important
* Health care is offered after 3 months for full time employees (30 hours minimum)
* Shift meal included

Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- 2 years+ of FOH experience preferred; bartending experience is a plus
- Willingness to learn a new cuisine
- Get along well with others and be a team player
- Responsible for assisting customers to place orders with the QR code system, run food and drinks to the tables and clearing tables
- Communicate effectively with customers 
- Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
- Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Other duties will be assigned as needed
- Food Handler and Basset Certificate required

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary/Hourly ($17.00) plus tips

Thattu started off as a pop-up in 2018 in Bridgeport by Chef Margaret Pak. In the second iteration in 2019, Co-Owners Margaret and Vinod created Thattu - a counter service food stall located in the West Loop. In less than a year as a food stall, Thattu gained local and national recognition as 2020 Food & Wine Magazine Best New Restaurant and 2020 James Beard Awards Semi-Finalist Best New Restaurant.

Now we are excited! and ready for our brick-and-mortar location in the up and coming Avondale neighborhood. We opened at the end of April and about 5 months later, The New York Times Restaurant List included Thattu in the 50 places in the US that they're most excited about right now!

We are currently seeking part time prep cooks who are passionate, creative and care deeply about the food they create.
