Café Brume, a Brooklyn Heights wine bar and restaurant evoking the food & wine of the European Alps. This cozy chalet plays to memories of hiking, touring, après-ski, and exploring the world of high-elevation vineyards whose terraces seem to span vertically into the clouds. This is homage to rustic flavors, with a refined sensibility. We built this guest house reflecting a lifestyle, then nestled it in your neighborhood restaurant.
Brume, the mist or fog surrounding the majestic mountains found at both dusk and dawn, mirrors our journey from a dream to consciousness and back again. These moments are owned and savored, our great understanding; a true shared meaning. Here, the cuisine and hospitality will be experienced with this ethos as we all enjoy creative small vittles, curated or house cured charcuterie, farmstead cheeses, fresh pastas and classic entrées. Alpine cuisine, born out of place and time with rustic elegance steeped in classic Euro-cookery. Our Chef is Ian Anderson, recently of Le Coucou, LaLou, Otway, and other dynamic and creative French & modern European cuisine iterations is exploring this rich regional cuisine at this new venture.
The high-elevation wine list is an assemblage of minerally, cool-climate cepages. The Whites present with white flowers, honeyed notes, and orchard fruit, while the Reds swarm with bouquets of dried flowers, ripe currant, cherry, and spices. The cocktails utilize Alpine liqueurs and amari. We will delve deep into the canon of artisanal formulations that are inimitably redolent with pine, licorice, and herbal qualities transforming aperitif spritz’ and stirred drinks into ethereal libations that the monks once secured in special recipes.
