Chef / Kitchen Manager
Windridge is an established farm winery that produces wines from over 30 acres of estate grown grapevines. Our Tasting Room is located on the farm overlooking our vineyards with panoramic views stretching to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The combination of excellent wine, a beautiful facility, and dedicated staff enable us to deliver a customer experience that is best in class.
Adopting the philosophy that “wine is better with food” our program focuses on creating thoughtfully prepared dishes that pair with wine and enhance the customer experience.
This is an incredible opportunity for the right candidate to manage a dynamic food program within an already proven successful business that has a loyal customer base. The kitchen typically closes by 8:00PM so no late nights!
Essential duties and responsibilities
Working with the ownership team, the Chef / Kitchen Manager will be responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of the food program including the following:
- Order ingredients and track inventory
- Prepare and cook food
- Manage kitchen staff
- Track and manage food cost
- Assist with future menu development
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Understanding of financial implications of operational decisions
- Ability to order products and schedule labor within budget
- Ability to organize, prioritize and anticipate
- Thorough knowledge of food handling practices and must have or be willing obtain a Maryland approved food handlers license and allergen certification
- Physically able to work a kitchen shift involving standing for long periods and working in hot environment
- Ability to communicate and understand English
