Second Daughter is a small, values-driven bakery located inside the Bok Building. We’re looking for a warm, reliable, and organized Front of House team member to join us on weekends Tuesdays (Saturdays & Sunday). This role is customer-facing and fast-paced, and we’re looking for someone who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and be a kind and welcoming presence.
Location: Philadelphia, PA (BOK location for weekend shifts)
This is the schedule for the position:
- Tuesdays 7:00am – 3:00pm (Rittenhouse Farmers Market)
- Friday – Sunday 7:30am – 2:00pm (Bakery at BOK location)
Responsibilities:
- Greet and serve customers with warmth and professionalism
- Handle POS transactions accurately and efficiently
- Keep the front of house clean, stocked, and organized
- Answer guest questions clearly and politely, even during busy times
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and fellow team members
- Assist with packaging, light prep, or other tasks as needed
Farmers Market Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales

Greet customers warmly and provide product information and recommendations.
- Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Comfortable operating a large vehicle.

Answer questions about ingredients, sourcing, preparation, and pricing.

Take orders accurately and handle customer concerns or complaints professionally.

Maintain a clean, welcoming booth space.
Product Handling

Prepare and assemble food items (if applicable) following safety and quality standards.

Restock displays and ensure products are attractively arranged.

Monitor inventory levels and communicate when stock is running low.

Follow food safety guidelines, including glove use, cross-contamination prevention, and temperature control.
Cash Handling & Transactions

Process payments via cash, card, or digital systems.

Count starting and ending cash drawers (if assigned).

Issue receipts and manage small change efficiently.
Booth Setup & Breakdown

Set up tent, tables, displays, signage, and equipment before market opens.

Break down and pack equipment, supplies, and product at closing.

Maintain organization of storage bins, tools, and packaging materials.
Brand Representation

Communicate the business’s story, sourcing, and values.

Share accurate information about product availability (e.g., only offered on Fridays).

Handle customer expectations when items sell out.
Operational Support

Track sales or note customer feedback for owners or managers.

Help maintain compliance with market rules and health department regulations.

Assist with transporting goods to and from the market.
What We’re Looking For:
- Weekend availability (Saturday & Sunday)
- Ability to stay calm and focused during busy service
- Friendly, professional demeanor with strong communication skills
- Comfort with multitasking and handling a line
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality is a plus
- Interest in pastries and hospitality is a bonus
