Position: Pastry Cook
Position Summary
LÉLÉ is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Pastry Cook to join our opening team. You’ll be responsible for preparing a range of desserts that reflect the rich and diverse flavors of Afro-Caribbean cuisine—from tropical fruit tarts and spice-kissed cakes to innovative twists on traditional sweets. This role is perfect for someone with strong pastry fundamentals, a creative edge, and a genuine interest in culturally rooted cuisine.
Responsibilities

Prepare and plate a variety of desserts and baked goods with consistency and care

Execute recipes developed by the Pastry Chef, ensuring quality and presentation standards

Assist with prep, production, and service for daily dessert offerings

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry station

Ensure proper storage and labeling of all pastry ingredients and finished products

Support pastry prep for special events and seasonal menu changes

Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times

Be open to learning and exploring new ingredients, techniques, and cultural traditions
Qualifications

1–2 years of professional pastry or baking experience

Strong interest in Afro-Caribbean ingredients and culinary heritage

Familiarity with basic baking techniques and plated dessert presentation

Attention to detail, time management, and a positive team attitude

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

NYC Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain before opening)
