ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re seeking a passionate Sous Chef with strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, and a love of good food. You’ll cook with top-quality ingredients — including produce from our farm — and help manage a dynamic, high-volume kitchen while deepening your knowledge of Middle Eastern and Turkish cuisine.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Oversee daily kitchen operations alongside the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine

·       Ensure food quality, consistency, presentation, and safety standards

·       Supervise and support kitchen staff; assist with hiring, training, and performance management

·       Work stations as needed and help manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships

·       Contribute to menu specials and special events

·       Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment

·       Uphold company culture and promote a collaborative, positive workplace

QUALIFICATIONS

·       2+ years of professional kitchen experience

·       Strong kitchen fundamentals: cleanliness, safety, organization

·       Team player with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail

·       Excellent communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced setting

·       Desire for long-term employment and professional growth

·       Availability for nights, weekends, and some holidays

·       Ability to work 50-54 hours per week

Oleana is a James Beard award-winning restaurant led by chef Ana Sortun in Cambridge, MA. We serve thoughtful Eastern-Mediterranean food with locally-sourced ingredients and bold spices. Our patio with a fountain, herb garden and fig tree is the perfect place to spend a sultry summer evening. But winter nights in the dining room are pretty warm and welcoming too, with Turkish carpets on the wall, a homey fireplace and banquette seating.

We have an open kitchen at Oleana, and it is tiny. But the flavors and creativity that emerge from it are as big as they come.
