Musaafer NYC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sous Chef to play a vital role in the successful launch and ongoing operation of our kitchen. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will be instrumental in leading the culinary team, ensuring the consistent execution of our exceptional menu, maintaining the highest standards of quality and hygiene, and contributing to the overall success of Musaafer NYC. *Responsibilities:*

•⁠ ⁠*Culinary Leadership:* Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, providing strong leadership and direction to the culinary team.
•⁠ ⁠*Menu Execution:* Ensure the accurate and efficient preparation and plating of all menu items according to Musaafer's exacting standards and recipes.
•⁠ ⁠*Quality Control:* Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control.
•⁠ ⁠*Team Management:* Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
•⁠ ⁠*Inventory Management:* Assist in managing inventory levels, ordering supplies, minimizing waste, and ensuring proper storage of all food items.
•⁠ ⁠*Scheduling and Staffing:* Contribute to the development of efficient kitchen schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels for smooth service.
•⁠ ⁠*Hygiene and Safety:* Enforce strict adherence to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP) to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
•⁠ ⁠*Equipment Maintenance:* Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
•⁠ ⁠*Problem Solving:* Proactively identify and resolve any operational issues or challenges that may arise in the kitchen.
•⁠ ⁠*Collaboration:* Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless communication and a positive guest experience.
•⁠ ⁠*Innovation and Development:* Contribute to menu development and refinement under the guidance of the Executive Chef, bringing creativity and a passion for Indian cuisine.
•⁠ ⁠*Performance Evaluation:* Participate in the evaluation of kitchen staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
•⁠ ⁠*Deputize for Executive Chef:* Assume responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.

*Qualifications:*

•⁠ ⁠Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive culinary experience in a high-volume, fine-dining environment, preferably with experience in Indian cuisine or a strong understanding of diverse global flavors.
•⁠ ⁠Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop culinary staff.
•⁠ ⁠Strong knowledge of classical cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen operations.
•⁠ ⁠Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
•⁠ ⁠Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to culinary excellence.
•⁠ ⁠Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
•⁠ ⁠Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•⁠ ⁠Culinary degree or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
•⁠ ⁠A genuine passion for Indian culture and cuisine is highly desirable.
•⁠ ⁠Experience with inventory management software is a plus.
•⁠ ⁠Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
•⁠ ⁠Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
