Barista

Hello!

We are a small specialty coffee shop and bakery with two shops in Manhattan. We're passionate about coffee and food and about serving our neighborhood with the best products and service that we can. We pride ourselves on making some of the most delicious things in New York City (we have been featured in the Infatuation, NY Times, Eater, Food + Wine, and many others) and our team is growing.

We are for experienced, talented baristas who love working in coffee and making people happy.

Some Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for opening or closing the shop (key holder position).
* Dialing in espresso as needed throughout the shift.
* Cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of all coffee equipment.
* General shop cleaning, inventory-taking, and restocking.
* Communicate with BOH regarding baked items.
* Keeping shop clean, sanitized, and inspection ready.
* Making menu drinks to order in a timely fashion.
* Expert customer service for in-store and delivery customers
* Placing orders for milk and other supplies
* Receiving and putting orders away.
* Related duties as assigned by Manager.
* You may have to lift somewhat heavy things (up to 50lbs) from time to time.

Some Qualifications:
* You take your coffee seriously.
* You can jump right in and make the perfect cortado; operate a manual espresso machine like a La Marzocco in your sleep; and you're comfortable dialing in and maintaining consistent product.
* You're fun to work with and to be around. We'd be happy to wake up early in the morning to work a shift with you, and you'll always provide our customers with a warm, friendly and welcoming experience.
* You're approachable, social, and make customers feel welcome.
* You're serious about your craft and you take pride in it. That will likely mean that you have an eye for detail, that you're proactive, and that you're invested in what you do. We take what we do really seriously and you'll be a great fit if you do, too.

Applicant Requirements:
* MUST have a food handler's permit issued by NYC DOH 
* At least a year of experience in a third wave shop making quality espresso beverages, including dialing in, maintaining consistent espresso extraction and experience in batch brewing. 
* Ability to consistently perform and produce excellent quality espresso beverages quickly and under pressure.
* Possess a passion for personalized customer service and developing relationships with customers, as all our baristas must be comfortable with taking customer orders and other aspects of café service.
* Strong team member with an ability to multitask and work with others.
* Would be awesome if you lived near Columbia University

AM shifts are 730-100

PM shifts are 1245-545
Weekend shifts are 815am - 330pm (or 8:15-12:15)
