We are seeking dynamic and knowledgeable professionals to join our service team. Candidates must possess an enthusiasm for sincere, personable service and a strong sense of team. Experience working in an upscale casual or fine-dining environment is a plus. Enhanced knowledge of Italian food, wine and culture is an even bigger plus! Full or part-time positions are available with a 3 shift minimum of availability.
Bartenders are responsible for preparing beverages according to recipe and for providing seamless and attentive service while creating memorable dining experiences for all guests.
Essential Functions
- Operate as the ambassador for Aventino’s culinary vision, culture and general concepts
- Provide efficient, warm service to a full bar top following Aventino’s Steps of Service
- Prepare and serve beverages to guests according to recipes
- Stock the bar with all inventory, glassware, supplies, ice, and ingredients
- Available to work a variety of days and hours
- Ability to tolerate hands being exposed to liquids frequently, including water, cleaning solutions, and alcohol
- Safely and effectively use FOH/BOH tools and equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in spoken direction
- Ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
- Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
- Able to move and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfacesEffectively service a full bar top, cocktail station, and dining room orders
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure a warm and hospitable atmosphere for all guests
- Use good judgment when dealing with guest challenges
- Maintain a working knowledge of all food and beverage offerings including origin, ingredients, seasonality, flavor, preparation, presentation, allergens and alternatives
- Check mise en place: all items are prepared before the start of service and in their proper place at close.
- Performs opening, on-going and closing side-work
- Stocks all stations with prescribed supplies and maintains their cleanliness throughout service
- Alerts management before the start of service of any supply shortages, equipment malfunctions or technical issues
- Details bar ensuring all surfaces are sanitized/free of debris, chairs are stable and aligned, and all glass and flatware are smudge-free
- Craft signature and classic beverages according to recipe as well as made-to-order requests utilizing industry standards
- Safely and properly change beer kegs, CO2 tanks and soda dispensers
- Manually wash, sanitize and polish glassware
- Account for and maintain the security of all bar inventory
- Guide guests in making selections from food and beverage menus by explaining off-menu additions, answering all food preparation inquiries and offering coursing, recommendations and pairings
- Ask every guest about allergies and/or dietary requirements and proceed according to Aventino’s Allergy Protocol
- Take and write down guests’ food and beverage orders and input accurately into the POS
- Verify consumption of all alcoholic beverages is in accordance with state regulations and alcohol awareness training standards including alerting management to an intoxicated guest
- Continually communicate with management about any guest-related inquiries, feedback, or concerns
- Delegate tasks and directs support efficiently and kindly
- Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payments, and account for and balance all sales/receipts in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
- Responsible for the security and reconciliation of a cash drawer
