Job Details
Purpose of the Role
 
We are looking for a General Manager to oversee our discreetly located cocktail bar, Sloane’s. The bar provides impeccable service, a delicious, thoughtful drinks program and elevated bites. The General Manager of Sloane’s requires an in-depth knowledge of beverage and cocktail programming, an acute attention to detail and is responsible for the overall success and operation of the venue, including guest experience, team management, financial performance, and brand integrity. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive exceptional service, operational efficiency, and team culture while upholding the unique identity and high standards of Sloane’s.
 
Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and efficient service.
  • Develop and implement service standards, training programs, and operating procedures.
  • Lead, train, and mentor front-of-house staff, including bartenders, servers, and support staff.
  • Manage scheduling, payroll, and HR compliance in collaboration with the HR department.
  • Drive financial performance by managing budgets, controlling costs, and maximizing revenue.
  • Monitor inventory, ordering, and supply chain to maintain efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and beverage director on menu development and promotions.
  • Analyze sales data and guest feedback to optimize service and profitability.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence, engaging with guests and supporting staff during peak service.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including NYC Department of Health standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and business partners.
  • Support marketing and brand initiatives, including social media, events, and partnerships.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews, fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
  • Address guest concerns and resolve service issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Represent Sloane’s at industry events and networking opportunities to build the brand’s reputation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.
 
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of management experience in upscale bars, lounges, or fine dining establishments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, financial reporting, and cost controls.
  • Extensive knowledge of craft cocktails, wine, and premium spirits.
  • Exceptional guest service skills with a passion for hospitality.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and inspire a diverse team.
  • Fluent in English (read, write, and speak); bi- or multilingual preferred.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and restaurant management software.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching overhead or below the knees.
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
