Chef de Cuisine – Iconic French Bistro in Midtown Manhattan

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef de Cuisine to lead the culinary team at a renowned French bistro located in Midtown NYC. Known for its vibrant energy, loyal clientele, and timeless approach to French cuisine, this flagship restaurant offers an exciting opportunity for a culinary leader who thrives in a refined yet dynamic setting.

This role works closely under the guidance of the Executive Chef and is ideal for someone who values a collaborative culture, strong work-life balance, and the opportunity to help shape one of NYC’s most beloved dining destinations.

What We Offer
  • Base Salary: $125,000 – $140,000 annually

  • Bonus: Eligible after one year of employment

  • Schedule: 5-day workweek with 2 consecutive days off (typically Monday–Friday, 9:00am–8:00pm)

Role Overview

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Chef de Cuisine will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including leading a team of Sous Chefs and cooks, managing purchasing and inventory, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring exceptional quality and consistency across all dishes.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinance & Purchasing
  • Monitor and manage food and labor costs to meet profitability targets

  • Maintain accurate recipe costing and inventory records

  • Oversee purchasing, establish order guides, and control stock levels

  • Build relationships with vendors and secure high-quality products at competitive prices

Kitchen Operations
  • Develop weekly specials and contribute to seasonal menu changes

  • Uphold food quality through daily tastings and hands-on leadership

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen that meets all regulatory standards

  • Collaborate with FOH teams to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experience

Team Leadership
  • Train, mentor, and manage kitchen staff to promote professional development

  • Lead daily prep and pre-service meetings

  • Coordinate with HR on staffing, onboarding, and training

  • Inspire a team culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and respect

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a Chef de Cuisine or equivalent leadership role

  • Background in fine dining; experience under Michelin-starred leadership highly preferred

  • Solid foundation in classic French cuisine

  • NYC restaurant experience strongly preferred

  • Current Food Handler’s Certification

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
