Bar Maritime is seeking warm, poised, and hospitality-focused Hosts to join our opening team. Located in San Francisco, Bar Maritime is the casual, lively counterpart to Maritime Boat Club, offering a market-driven, seafood-forward menu in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We are a small, independent business operating within a hotel and are committed to thoughtful sourcing, genuine hospitality, and memorable guest experiences.
As a Host, you are the first and last point of contact for our guests. You will be responsible for creating a seamless and inviting arrival experience, managing reservations and flow of service, and supporting the front-of-house team throughout service. This role requires exceptional communication, warmth, and attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet guests warmly upon arrival, manage check-in with grace and professionalism, and create a welcoming first impression

Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating in coordination with the dining room team to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of service

Communicate effectively with Servers, Managers, and Kitchen staff about pacing, guest preferences, and table status

Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and occasional complaints with empathy, clarity, and poise

Maintain an organized host stand and front entry area, contributing to a clean and composed environment

Anticipate guest needs and assist in creating personalized, memorable experiences

Support the service team as needed, including helping reset tables and assisting with takeout or delivery orders

Participate in pre-service meetings and support team-wide communication and cohesion
QUALIFICATIONS

1+ year of experience in a guest-facing role in restaurants, hotels, or hospitality-driven settings

Friendly, articulate, and composed demeanor with excellent communication skills

Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Calm and professional under pressure

Comfort with using reservation systems (Resy, OpenTable, etc.) and POS software (training provided)

A genuine love for hospitality and desire to make people feel welcome

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.67 - $19.50) plus tips
